About Form 1095-A

What is a 1095a tax form?

The form provides information about your insurance policy, your premiums (the cost you pay for insurance), any advance payment of premium tax credit and the people in your household covered by the policy. Insurance companies in health care exchanges provide you with the 1095-A form.

Do I need a 1095-A to file my taxes?

You can't file your federal taxes without Form 1095-A. You'll need it to "reconcile" — find out if there's any difference between the premium tax credit you used in 2022 and the amount you qualify for.

Who Must File?

The IRS to report on who enrolled in a QHP through the Marketplace.
Individuals, so they can complete Form 8962 to figure out their premium tax credit (PTC), reconcile it with any advance payments of the premium tax credit (APTC), and file an accurate federal income tax return.

Which states do you assist?

We assist states that participate with the healthcare.gov marketplace.
